Game designer Joe Shely told Polygon in the course of Diablo 4 Gold a roundtable discussion it is "having your character appear to be an amalgamation of choices you made can lead to intriguing decisions, or at the very least intriguing opportunities."Shely said"the Diablo staff is cognizant that game players particularly beginning, may not be fully aware of the different classes' skills. It is expected that players want to explore.
"When you consider our respec system," Shely said, "which can be applied to both the skill tree as well as to Paragon for higher levels which is our ultimate progress system. "We've determined to think about it in a way in which you are choosing a path is crucial, and your character is not like everyone who has a character, but you're given a lot of freedom to test things out.
"You've got the ability to respec point by point. Click to despend a single point and use it for something else and as you move deeper into levels, the cost goes up to make those choices more thoughtful. Of course, you can modify your entire tree at one time if would like to build from the starting point."
Fergusson pointed out that as players get deeper and deep into their character "the costs of in-game currency for respect becomes higher and higher and you'll eventually arrive at the point where you're playing a level 90 Barbarian and instead of completely making changes to my build, it's better to roll a different Barbarian and start all over."
